Bartley Steps Down Following Livingston's Relegation
Marvin Bartley has resigned as head coach of Livingston after the club's relegation from the Scottish Premiership.
The 39-year-old, who previously played for Hibernian and Livingston, assumed the managerial role in January, having been promoted from assistant coach when David Martindale transitioned to a sporting director position.
Alongside Bartley, coach Neil Hastings has also departed. Veteran midfielder Scott Arfield will lead an interim management team for the remaining three top-flight matches.
Background on Martindale and Season Performance
David Martindale, associated with Livingston since 2014, managed the team for nearly six years. He successfully guided Livingston back to the Premiership at the first attempt via the play-offs following relegation two seasons prior.
Despite this, the current season saw Livingston endure a 33-game winless streak, including 31 league matches without a victory, setting a record in the Scottish top flight.
Recent Matches and Final Outcome
Bartley did secure a 2-0 away victory against St Mirren two weeks ago. However, despite a 2-2 draw with Aberdeen on Friday, Livingston's relegation was confirmed when second-bottom Kilmarnock defeated Dundee United the following day.
The former Queen of the South manager departs with a record comprising one win, six draws, and four defeats.
