Alex Hughes' Career and Passing
Alex Hughes, who served as head of scouting at Morecambe before joining Grimsby Town, has died aged 38. He had a playing career that included spells at Stockport County and Wrexham before transitioning into roles focused on player analysis and recruitment.
During his career off the pitch, Hughes worked with several clubs managed by his father, Mark Hughes, including Blackburn, Manchester City, and Fulham. He also led a private football academy in Portugal and later became a player agent. In recent years, he contributed to non-league clubs AFC Fylde and Morecambe before taking the position of player recruitment lead at League Two club Grimsby Town in July of the previous year.
