England World Cup Squad Excludes Maguire and Tomori

Harry Maguire and Fikayo Tomori have been omitted from England's World Cup squad as central defensive options. Both players were included in Thomas Tuchel's previous squad for friendlies against Japan and Uruguay but will not be traveling to North America for the tournament.

In an Instagram post, Maguire expressed his feelings about the decision:

"I was confident I could have played a major part this summer for my country after the season I've had. I've been left shocked and gutted by the decision. I wish the players all the best."

Luke Shaw, Maguire's teammate at Manchester United, is also expected to miss out despite a strong season. Shaw was named in Tuchel's 55-man provisional squad and there has been significant public support for his inclusion.

However, with Newcastle's Dan Burn and Manchester City's Nico O'Reilly likely to be called up, Shaw is anticipated to be left out of the final selection.

Arsenal winger Noni Madueke is projected to make the final 26-man squad, joining fellow Arsenal players Bukayo Saka and Declan Rice.

Tuchel is scheduled to announce his squad on Friday for the World Cup, which begins on 11 June.

World Cup Squad Challenges for Tuchel

The selection process has brought both excitement and disappointment as players face the uncertainty of inclusion or exclusion from the squad.

England will prepare for the tournament, hosted across the United States, Mexico, and Canada, with warm-up friendlies against New Zealand and Costa Rica.

Their World Cup campaign will commence with a match against Croatia on 17 June, followed by games against Ghana and Panama.
