Livingston Relegated After One Season Back in Premiership
Livingston have been relegated from the Scottish Premiership following Kilmarnock's 3-0 victory over Dundee United. This result leaves Marvin Bartley's team 10 points behind at the bottom of the table with only three games remaining in the season.
Livingston had briefly kept their hopes of survival alive by ending a 33-game winless streak with a 2-0 away win against St Mirren last weekend. This was only their second league win of the season and their first since August.
However, a 2-2 home draw against Aberdeen on Friday, which was their sixth draw in nine matches, meant they were dependent on Dundee United securing points at Rugby Park to maintain any chance of catching Kilmarnock, who have now moved up to 10th place.
Livingston Need 'Greater Escape' After Dons Draw
Livingston had spent six consecutive seasons in the Premiership before their relegation two years ago. They finished second behind Falkirk in the Scottish Championship last season and earned promotion after defeating Ross County in the Premiership play-off final.
In an effort to improve results this season, the club ended David Martindale's five-year tenure as manager in February, appointing him as sporting director while promoting assistant manager Marvin Bartley to take full control of the team.
Despite only losing four of the 11 games under Bartley's management, the team managed just one victory during this period.
