Liam Rosenior Takes Over as Paris FC Manager
Liam Rosenior has resumed his football management career by signing with Paris FC following his dismissal from Chelsea in April. The 41-year-old's tenure at Stamford Bridge lasted less than four months, and he has now returned to France on a two-year contract, reportedly including an option for an additional season.
Before joining Chelsea, Rosenior managed Strasbourg. He succeeds Antoine Kombouare at Paris FC after the club finished 11th in Ligue 1 last season. Paris FC, owned by the Arnault family with Red Bull as a minority shareholder, has ambitions to improve its standing.
The club highlighted Rosenior's appointment due to his
"wealth of experience at the highest level,"his skill in developing young players, and his dedication to
"attractive and attacking football."
Rosenior's Chelsea Tenure
Rosenior took over as Chelsea manager in January, replacing Enzo Maresca, who left following disagreements with club leadership. Despite an initially promising start, the team's performance declined, culminating in Rosenior losing each of his final five Premier League matches without scoring any goals.
Despite the short and challenging spell at Chelsea, Rosenior is well-regarded for his achievements at Strasbourg, Chelsea's sister club. Under his leadership, Strasbourg finished seventh in the 2024-25 season and qualified for the UEFA Conference League, fielding the youngest squad among Europe's top five leagues.
Coaching Background
Rosenior began his coaching career with Brighton's Under-23 team before moving to Derby County, where he served as assistant to Wayne Rooney and later as interim manager. In 2022, he was appointed head coach of Hull City, guiding them to 15th place in the Championship in his first season and seventh in his second. However, he was dismissed after missing out on the play-offs.
Chelsea's New Manager
Following Rosenior's departure, Chelsea appointed Xabi Alonso, former manager of Real Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen, as their new head coach. Alonso is the sixth permanent manager at Stamford Bridge in four years under BlueCo ownership.
