Del Morgan Aims to Inspire Next Generation of Female Coaches
Achieving one UEFA A licence is a significant accomplishment, but why not aim for two if possible? This was the mindset of Del Morgan.
Morgan is the first Welsh woman to obtain both the UEFA A licence and the UEFA A licence for goalkeepers.
For Morgan, a former goalkeeper for Wrexham women's football team and now a goalkeeper coach for Liverpool women's team, the journey has been a long-term commitment and effort.
"It has been an ambition since I started coaching over 10 years ago – trying to get both licences," she said.
"Basically, I am a goalkeeper coach, so that is where I have focused most.
"But under UEFA rules, you must have an outfield licence and a goalkeeper licence to progress to the next level of goalkeeper coaching.
"I always want to challenge myself – something to motivate me, and I am so proud I decided to do it."
'Giving Something Back'
Morgan, from Prestatyn, was part of the Wrexham team that secured promotion to the Premier Division in 2023.
With the team established in the top division, Morgan decided to leave at the end of the 2024-25 season to focus on her coaching career.
"The problem with applying is that it is an expensive process," she said.
"Along the way, some clubs supported me, but the higher you go, the more expensive it becomes.
"That is why many stop because it is not financially feasible to progress to the next stage.
"The Football Association of Wales has been incredibly supportive by giving me the opportunity to coach their youth teams, so I am glad I can give something back."

Morgan was part of the Wrexham team that secured promotion to the Premier Division in 2023.
She now hopes to inspire the next generation of women as they begin their coaching journeys.
"I hope they will see my journey and that it will help them," she said.
"We need more female coaches, especially goalkeeper coaches here in Wales.
"Things are slowly changing, but there is a great need for many more opportunities for young women here."
'Would Love to Coach Wales One Day'
What is next for Del Morgan?
"I don't think I want to be a head coach – I still consider myself primarily a goalkeeper coach.
"Someday, it would be great to coach a team in the WSL (Women's Super League).
"I get the chance to work with Liverpool's first team quite often, so that is the main ambition.
"And the little girl inside me says we would love to coach Wales one day."
