Derby captain Travis scores own goal and sees red

Leif Davis’s excellent late header secured a 2-1 victory for Ipswich Town at Derby County, strengthening Ipswich’s push for promotion. The visitors took the lead early, in the eighth minute, when Derby captain Lewis Travis inadvertently headed a corner into his own net. Derby responded in the second half, leveling the score through a penalty converted by Rhian Brewster.

However, Davis’s decisive header ensured Ipswich claimed the win. The home side finished the match with ten men after Travis’s difficult day culminated in a second yellow card during added time, resulting in his dismissal.

Southampton extend Watford’s woeful run

Southampton secured a 1-0 victory over Watford, with Cyle Larin scoring with his first touch for the club. The Canadian international, who completed a loan move from Mallorca on deadline day, made an immediate impact by heading in a powerful goal. This win marked Southampton’s first consecutive victories since early December.

Watford remain without a win since New Year’s Day and have failed to score in their last three matches, continuing their difficult run.

Norwich take a step away from relegation zone

Norwich City moved further from the relegation zone by defeating Blackburn Rovers 2-0, marking their fourth win in five league games. The match was largely scrappy, but a quick one-two combination just past the midway point of the second half brought excitement. Anis Ben Slimane scored his fourth goal in five games, followed swiftly by Mohamed Touré, who scored on his debut.

Slimane opened the scoring in the 73rd minute by slotting in a rebound after Oscar Schwartau’s shot hit the woodwork. Touré then added a second goal from close range shortly after.
