Coventry Close to Signing Aurele Amenda from Eintracht Frankfurt
Coventry City are nearing an agreement to acquire Switzerland international defender Aurele Amenda from Eintracht Frankfurt in a transfer valued at over £17 million.
The centre-back is expected to join the newly promoted Premier League club for an initial fee of £15.4 million, with additional add-ons amounting to £1.7 million. Amenda is set to sign a four-year contract with Coventry.
Reports indicate that Amenda was convinced to join Coventry following a compelling presentation from manager Frank Lampard and the club's recruitment team.
Amenda has made 42 appearances for Frankfurt since his transfer from Young Boys in Switzerland. He was also part of the Switzerland squad that reached the quarter-finals of the FIFA World Cup, although he did not feature in any matches during the tournament.
Coventry's Summer Transfer Activity
This signing would mark Coventry's third acquisition this summer, following the arrivals of winger Loum Tchaouna from Burnley and midfielder Frank Onyeka, who completed a permanent move from Brentford.
The club continues to pursue goalkeeper Carl Rushworth from Brighton but has yet to finalize an agreement. Chelsea goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen remains an alternative target.
Pre-Season Preparations and Upcoming Fixtures
After renewing Frank Lampard's contract earlier this summer, Coventry began their pre-season campaign with a 3-2 defeat in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Wimbledon.
The Sky Blues are scheduled to face Northampton Town and Espanyol in forthcoming pre-season matches as they prepare for their first top-flight season in 25 years.
