Chelsea Dismiss Head Coach Liam Rosenior
Chelsea have terminated the contract of head coach Liam Rosenior following a run of five consecutive Premier League defeats without scoring, a streak not seen since 1912.
Rosenior took charge at Stamford Bridge in January, agreeing to a five-and-a-half-year contract. During his tenure, he managed 23 games across all competitions, securing only 11 victories.
After the team's 3-0 loss to Brighton on Tuesday, Rosenior described the team's performance as "indefensible" and "unacceptable," while facing hostile chants from traveling supporters.
The defeats have caused Chelsea to drop to seventh place in the Premier League standings, further diminishing their chances of qualifying for the next season's Champions League.
The club released a statement regarding the decision:
"Liam has always conducted himself with the highest integrity and professionalism following his appointment midway through the season," Chelsea said. "This has not been a decision the club has taken lightly, however recent results and performances have fallen below the necessary standards with still so much more to play for this season."
