Millie Bright Ends Football Career
Millie Bright, who has served as Chelsea's captain since 2023, has announced her immediate retirement from professional football.
The 32-year-old defender joined Chelsea in 2015 from Doncaster Belles and made a total of 294 appearances for the club. In addition to her club career, Bright earned 88 caps representing England.
Throughout her time at Chelsea, Bright achieved significant success, securing eight Women's Super League titles, including an impressive streak of six consecutive championships from 2020 to 2025. She also won six FA Cups and four League Cups during her tenure.
Bright has not played for Chelsea since February due to an ankle injury, and she has now decided to conclude her playing career.
"Representing Chelsea over the last 12 years has been everything to me, but I'm now ready to say goodbye to playing football," said Bright.
"I've given all I can, and I never wanted to fight for any other badge.
It is now time, and I'm ready to go into a new era. I'm always going to be Chelsea, but just in a different way."
