Barry-Murphy pleased with Huddersfield fightback

Cardiff City striker Yousef Salech has scored 14 goals across all competitions this season, despite missing more than two months of action through injury.

Brian Barry-Murphy described Cardiff City's 1-1 draw with Huddersfield Town as a "great point in the circumstances." The Bluebirds appeared set to lose at Accu Stadium until Yousef Salech scored an equaliser in the 95th minute, following Ryan Ledson's opening half goal for the Terriers.

Head coach Barry-Murphy expressed relief that his team managed to provide the travelling Cardiff supporters with a late cause for celebration, despite not performing at their best against Huddersfield.

"I think it's a great point in the circumstances," he said.

"We have to accept that we weren't at our best.

"It's pleasing, with the amount of supporters we had there, to get to celebrate in such dramatic fashion."

Promotion prospects and upcoming fixtures

The draw means Cardiff's anticipated promotion celebration will be postponed until at least Saturday, when they face Reading at 15:00 BST.

Barry-Murphy's squad will secure a return to the Championship if they defeat the Royals and Stockport County drop points in either of their matches against Wimbledon on Wednesday night or Exeter City at the weekend.

"It's a great experience for our team to have to go through the process of trying to win promotion and trying to understand how difficult it is," Barry-Murphy added.

"We have to live that, enjoy every single part of it and try and win on Saturday.

"Our objective is to try and win promotion, that would be an amazing achievement. But we know how much hard work is still ahead of us to achieve that."

Injury concerns for Cardiff

During the match against Huddersfield, Cardiff suffered a setback in the 60th minute when defender Dylan Lawlor was substituted due to injury. The 20-year-old has been struggling with a toe injury sustained while on international duty with Wales during the March international break.

"He's very sore in his toe," Barry-Murphy commented on Lawlor's condition.

"He just couldn't perform to the level that he or we needed."
