Devils Advance to Elite League Play-off Semi-Finals
The Cardiff Devils secured their place in the Elite League Play-off finals weekend with a decisive 4-1 victory over Coventry Blaze, culminating in a 6-2 aggregate win over the two-leg quarter-final held in the Welsh capital.
Having won the first leg 2-1 at Skydome Arena on Saturday, the Devils maintained control throughout the second leg at Vindico Arena. The visitors managed a late consolation goal by William Boysen, but it was insufficient to overturn the aggregate deficit.
Kohen Olischefski set the pace early for the hosts by scoring just 39 seconds into the match. Josh MacDonald followed with a second goal, further establishing the Devils' dominance.
Joey Martin and Riley Brandt also contributed to the scoreboard, bringing the Devils' lead to 4-0 on the night before the final period commenced.
Although Boysen's late effort provided Blaze with a goal, it was too late to affect the outcome, marking the end of their season.
Upcoming Play-off Matches
The play-off semi-finals, final, and third-fourth place play-off are scheduled to take place in Nottingham during the weekend of 18-19 April. Sheffield Steelers and Manchester Storm have already progressed, with the final semi-final spot decided in a dramatic conclusion to Sunday's late game.
In that match, Glasgow Clan defeated Belfast Giants 3-1 in a shootout, securing their place in the semi-finals.
