Crufts 2026 Begins with Global Canine Arrivals

The world's most renowned dog show has officially commenced, with a vast number of dogs arriving to participate. More than 18,600 dogs from around the world are set to showcase their abilities and appearances at Birmingham's NEC over the next three days. Owners and handlers are eager to compete for the prestigious Best in Show title at Crufts.

Dogs will be evaluated across various categories including working, pastoral, and terrier groups. Alongside the judging, several competitions are organized to entertain attendees. The event continues through Sunday, culminating in the announcement of the Best in Show winner that evening.

Attendees can enjoy agility contests, freestyle heelwork set to music, and flyball events, which are relay races featuring teams of dogs competing head-to-head. Additionally, the West Midlands Police Dog team will perform a demonstration, according to event organizers.

Previous Winner and Event Schedule

In the previous year, an Italian dog made history by winning Best in Show for the first time. Miuccia, a four-year-old whippet from Venice, was selected as the top dog among over 18,000 competitors worldwide.

For the 2026 show, doors open daily at 08:15 GMT and close at 18:30 from Thursday through Saturday, with an earlier closing time of 18:00 on Sunday. Events run until 20:05 each day, except Sunday when the Best in Show winner will be announced at 20:30.
