England Selects Tilly Corteen-Coleman for Women's T20 World Cup
Uncapped left-arm spinner Tilly Corteen-Coleman has been named in England's squad for the upcoming Women's T20 World Cup this summer.
The 18-year-old impressed selectors with her performances during England's intra-squad matches held in South Africa earlier this year.
Corteen-Coleman joins two other left-arm spinners in the squad, Sophie Ecclestone and Linsey Smith. Off-spinner Charlie Dean has been appointed vice-captain, supporting captain Nat Sciver-Brunt.
Notably absent from the squad is 19-year-old Davina Perrin, who scored a century in last year's Hundred Eliminator, as well as veteran batter Tammy Beaumont.
Squad Composition and Key Players
The pace attack will be led by Lauren Bell, accompanied by Lauren Filer and Issy Wong. All-rounders Dani Gibson and Freya Kemp provide additional seam-bowling options.
Leg-spinner Sarah Glenn, who has been a regular in England's T20 squads recently, was not considered for selection due to recovery from a broken finger and has not participated in any matches this season.
Upcoming Fixtures and Squad Details
England will commence their World Cup campaign against Sri Lanka on 12 June at Edgbaston.
Prior to the World Cup, England will engage in white-ball series against New Zealand and India. The T20 squads for these series will be the same as for the World Cup.
Additionally, wicketkeeper Kira Chathli and all-rounder Jodi Grewcock have received their first call-ups for the one-day internationals against New Zealand's White Ferns.
