New Zealand secured a 160-run victory over England in the third Test at Trent Bridge on Monday, winning the series 2-1 and marking their fourth Test series win on English soil. This result also concluded the international career of England’s captain, Ben Stokes.

England resumed on 103 for four, chasing a challenging target of 373 runs, but were dismissed for 212 shortly after lunch on the fifth day, handing New Zealand the series victory.

New Zealand’s previous series wins in England occurred in 1986, 1999, and 2021, the latter being in a two-match series.

On Sunday, Ben Stokes announced his decision to step down as England captain after four years and to retire from international cricket following 15 years with the national team. He was dismissed for 30 runs late on Sunday after opening the batting.
