Glamorgan's Colin Ingram celebrates his century against Yorkshire in Cardiff

Rothesay County Championship, Division One, Sophia Gardens, Cardiff (Day Two)

Colin Ingram was Glamorgan's leading run-scorer in 2025, accumulating 1076 Championship runs.

Glamorgan posted 302 runs in 120.3 overs, with Ingram scoring 103, Ben Kellaway 52, and Mason Crane 51. Yorkshire’s bowlers Jack White and Dom Bess took three wickets each, with White recording figures of 3-40 and Bess 3-42. Ben Coad also contributed with 2-53.

The points awarded were Glamorgan 1 point and Yorkshire 2 points.

Colin Ingram’s century was pivotal as Glamorgan recovered from a precarious position of 28-4 on the first evening to reach a respectable total of 302. Yorkshire responded quickly with 1-0 in 1.4 overs before bad light reduced the day’s play by an hour in Cardiff.

Returning to Division One, Glamorgan made Yorkshire work hard for their wickets despite a long and economical bowling spell from spinner Dom Bess. Opening bowlers Ben Coad and Jack White maintained tight lines and lengths, restricting Glamorgan’s scoring opportunities.

Glamorgan’s lower order contributed significantly, with Ben Kellaway and Mason Crane each scoring half-centuries to bolster the innings.

Jonny Bairstow was absent from the field throughout the day due to a bruised thumb, delaying any decision on a possible substitution. Consequently, Dom Bess assumed the role of acting captain, with 12th man Will Luxton fielding and Finlay Bean keeping wicket.

Ingram and Kellaway began the day cautiously, steadily progressing to half-centuries as they continued to stabilize the innings after early setbacks.

After their partnership surpassed 100 runs, Bess claimed the first wicket of the day by bowling Kellaway for 52 off 101 balls with a well-flighted delivery that turned sharply.

The first session yielded just 70 runs, with Chris Cooke supporting Ingram with determined batting. Cooke was fortunate to survive a dropped catch at slip off Bess before lunch.

Cooke contributed a gritty 30 runs in a 67-run partnership before Matthew Revis delivered an excellent ball that jagged back to dismiss him by hitting the off-stump.

South African veteran Ingram continued to accumulate runs with style in the bright but chilly conditions. He reached his century off 225 balls, including 13 fours, before edging the next delivery to Finlay Bean.

Timm van der Gugten and Mason Crane guided Glamorgan to secure a batting point but opted not to pursue a second, frustrating Yorkshire despite Bess’s accurate bowling.

Van der Gugten was dismissed playing on to Bess for 40 runs. Andy Gorvin was caught brilliantly by Logan van Beek on the fine-leg boundary off George Hill, and Crane was caught in the deep off Bess for 51.

Seventeen overs were scheduled before bad light, but only 10 balls were bowled, including four from new Australian recruit Ryan Hadley, before umpires Russell Warren and Nigel Llong suspended play due to poor light.
