Bezzecchi Secures Third Consecutive Grand Prix Victory

Italy's Marco Bezzecchi continued his winning streak by capturing the opening race of the MotoGP season in Thailand, marking his third consecutive grand prix win following triumphs in the final two races of the previous season.

Starting from pole position on his Aprilia, Bezzecchi maintained a commanding lead throughout the race, ultimately finishing over five seconds ahead of his closest competitors.

Race Podium and Key Performances

Pedro Acosta of KTM, fresh off a sprint race victory on Saturday, secured second place, while fellow Spaniard Raul Fernandez from Trackhouse completed the podium in third.

Despite crashing out on the second lap of the sprint race, Bezzecchi demonstrated resilience and determination to claim the main event victory.

"Yesterday was a small mistake with a big consequence, so it was important today to try to bounce back," said Bezzecchi.

"My pace was good with the medium [rear tyre], we worked super well all weekend, so I knew that I could be fast if I was in front. So I tried my all to make a good start and the bike was perfect."

Marquez's Late Retirement

Ducati's defending champion Marc Marquez retired from the race with five laps remaining due to a tyre puncture while running in fourth place.

The Spaniard, who is aiming for a record-equalling eighth world title this season, was closing the gap on Acosta and Fernandez but suffered tyre damage after running wide, ending his chances of a podium finish.

Earlier in the week, Marquez had revealed he was still recovering from a shoulder injury that caused him to miss the final four races of last season.

Qualifying and Practice Highlights

Bezzecchi dominated the weekend by setting the fastest times in all three practice sessions and establishing a new track record during qualifying.

This victory marks his third straight grand prix win, following his successes in the last two races of 2025.

Other Notable Results

Bezzecchi's Aprilia teammate and 2024 champion Jorge Martin finished in fourth place, while Trackhouse's Ai Ogura secured fifth.

Last year's runner-up Alex Marquez was unable to finish the race after a late crash, and former world champion Francesco Bagnaia, who won titles in 2022 and 2023, finished ninth.
