A Toronto police officer was shot before 6am on Thursday while executing a search warrant at an apartment allegedly connected to the March shooting at the US consulate in downtown Toronto.

Toronto police confirmed that the officer was shot prior to 6am (1000 GMT) in the north-west area of the city and was immediately transported to hospital for treatment.
