Second Contestant Removed from Love Island USA for Racial Slur
Alannah Keyser, who first appeared on Sunday's episode of Love Island USA, has been removed from the villa following the emergence of historic social media posts that appeared to show her using a racial slur.
Keyser was removed after a video surfaced showing her apparently lip synching to the n-word in a song. Additional screenshots revealed her using the same slur in an Instagram comment and a Snapchat message.
These posts originated from a private account and were not publicly available until after Keyser entered the villa. Consequently, they were not identified during the vetting process conducted by the broadcaster Peacock, according to sources cited by US publications including Variety.
Keyser, who joined the dating series as a "bombshell" during the show's traditional mid-season Casa Amor twist—where new islanders enter the villa to challenge existing relationships—has been approached for comment.
Before her departure, Keyser appeared in the first 20 minutes of Thursday's episode, engaging in conversation with one of the male contestants and briefly appearing in two additional non-speaking scenes. The show's narrator subsequently confirmed her exit, stating to viewers:
"Alannah has left Casa Amor."
Previous Contestant Removal Over Racist Language
This marks the second instance this season where a contestant has been removed due to the use of racist language. Vasana Montgomery was previously removed following the announcement of the line-up after videos circulated online showing her apparently using the n-word in two separate instances.
Montgomery issued a statement on Instagram, expressing remorse:
"In those videos, I used a racial slur. There is no excuse for it, and I am deeply sorry.
I am embarrassed and disappointed by my words. I take full responsibility for what I said and understand why it has hurt and upset people."
Past Removals in Love Island Series
In the seventh series of Love Island last year, two additional contestants were removed for similar reasons.
Yulissa Escobar was asked to leave the villa after videos emerged showing her using a slur during a podcast. Following her removal, Escobar posted a TikTok video stating:
"I get it. I said a word that I should have not said. But I wish I would have never said that. It is what it is. I can't go back in time. I am sorry that I said that word."
During the same season, Cierra Ortega exited the show after using a racist term for Asian people. She later apologized and stated that she
"genuinely had no idea"that the term she used was considered a slur.
