Police received reports of a loud bang in the Nelson Drive area of the Waterside at approximately 12:30 BST on Tuesday.

Upon arrival, officers found that a car window had been smashed and a pipe bomb-type device had been placed on the windscreen.

Police and Ammunition Technical Officers (ATO) attended the scene and established cordons while conducting examinations.

Device Status and Investigation

The device was subsequently declared viable and was removed from the location for further forensic analysis.

The cordons remained in place for several hours before being lifted later on Tuesday.
