Police Appeal for Information

Police Scotland has issued an appeal for anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward.

The group of youths had entered the park via Blair Road and were proceeding along the canal path toward a wooded clearing when they met the second group, who were armed.

"It's vital we trace the people responsible for this frightening attack on a group of teenagers.
The park and surrounding paths are used and enjoyed by the public and this type of reckless act has no place in our community.
I'm appealing for anyone with information to come forward. I understand those who were attending the youths planned gathering may be concerned about speaking to the police but I want to reassure you - we're trying to find out exactly what happened to your friends and we need your help."

Detective Constable Carla O'Neill emphasized the importance of identifying those responsible for the attack and encouraged witnesses or anyone with relevant information to contact the police.
