Transgender Girls Asked to Leave Girlguiding by September

The organisation responsible for overseeing girl guide groups across the UK has announced that transgender girls are required to leave the organisation by September.

This follows a December statement from Girlguiding declaring it would no longer accept biological boys who identify as girls as new members.

The decision was made in response to a 2025 Supreme Court ruling which defined 'sex' as biological sex within equality law.

Girlguiding explained that the timeframe was intended to provide

"affected members and their families time to plan, prepare, access support, and decide when - between now and September - they feel ready to leave".
