Three Teenagers Die in Separate Water Incidents Across England

Three teenagers have died in separate incidents at popular beauty spots across England as temperatures reached record highs on Bank Holiday Monday.

Police forces in West Yorkshire, South Yorkshire, and Warwickshire have each confirmed the deaths of two teenage boys and one teenage girl, all of whom were rescued from open water.

These fatalities followed the drowning of a 15-year-old boy in a lake near Lincoln on Sunday. His family has urged the public to remain vigilant about the dangers posed by open water.

Temperatures across the UK reached record highs on Monday, with much of England remaining under amber and yellow heat health alerts issued by the UK Health Security Agency.

Incident at Leadbeater Dam, Halifax

In Halifax, West Yorkshire Police were called to Leadbeater Dam, located on moorland off Lumb Lane, at approximately 15:20 BST after reports that a teenage boy was in difficulty in the water.

The 13-year-old boy was removed from the reservoir and transported to hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to the police.

Officers stated that investigations are ongoing and that there are no indications of suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.

Fatality at Kingsbury Water Park, Warwickshire

Later on Monday, emergency services responded to Kingsbury Water Park in Warwickshire shortly after 18:00 BST following concerns for the welfare of a girl in the water.

Her body was recovered at approximately 19:20 BST, and she was pronounced dead at the scene, Warwickshire Police confirmed.

An investigation into the circumstances is underway, and the police have urged the public to refrain from speculation regarding the incident.

Recovery of Teenage Boy at Rother Valley Country Park, Rotherham

In Rotherham, South Yorkshire Police recovered the body of a teenage boy from a lake in Rother Valley Country Park after a search and rescue operation.

Emergency services were alerted at 18:50 BST to reports that a teenage boy had entered the water and had not been seen exiting.

Police officers, along with crews from South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service and Yorkshire Ambulance Service, conducted a specialist search operation before the boy's body was found in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

The police stated:

"Whilst formal identification is yet to take place, the boy's family has been informed and is being supported by officers."

Drowning of 15-Year-Old Declan Sawyer at Swanholme Lakes, Lincoln

These incidents follow the drowning of 15-year-old Declan Sawyer at Swanholme Lakes in Lincoln on Sunday.

Emergency crews were called at approximately 14:30 BST after reports that Declan was in difficulty in the water. He was later recovered following a search and rescue operation.

Declan's father, Carl Sawyer, expressed his grief and issued a warning about water safety. He said:

"He was very much loved by his friends and family, and will be missed dearly by many."

He added:

"With his tragic and unexpected passing on Sunday at Swanholme Lakes, we would like to raise awareness about children playing near any rivers or lakes in the hot weather. Please can all parents, friends and family make their children aware of the dangers surrounding water."
