Three Charged Over Leeds Teen's Death
Three individuals have appeared in court facing charges related to the murder of a 16-year-old girl in Leeds.
Chloe Watson Dransfield, who lived in Gomersal, was discovered unconscious on Kennerleigh Avenue in Austhorpe just before 06:00 GMT on Saturday. She was taken to hospital but passed away shortly thereafter.
Defendants Appear at Leeds Crown Court
Kayla Smith, 18, residing on Kennerleigh Avenue; Archie Rycroft, 19, from Middleton Park Road; and a 17-year-old male, whose identity is withheld for legal reasons, appeared via video link before Leeds Crown Court.
None of the defendants entered pleas during the hearing. They were remanded in custody pending a further hearing scheduled for 1 May.
During the brief court session, all three defendants only confirmed their names and dates of birth. No bail applications were submitted.
Trial Date and Court Remarks
A provisional trial date was set for 10 November, with an estimated duration exceeding two weeks. However, the Recorder of Leeds, Judge Guy Kearl KC, indicated that this date might be subject to change.
"It's important that this matter is dealt with as soon as possibly can be - any delay should be kept to a minimum,"
Judge Kearl stated during the proceedings.
Post-Mortem Examination
The court was informed that a second post-mortem examination for Chloe Watson Dransfield was deemed unnecessary.
