Review Date Set for Jeffrey Donaldson Sex Offences Case

A judge has set 5 May for a review of the sex offences case against former DUP leader Sir Jeffrey Donaldson and his wife, ahead of their 26 May trial.

Review Date Scheduled for Donaldson Case

A judge has scheduled a review date for the sex offences case involving former Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) leader Sir Jeffrey Donaldson and his wife, Lady Donaldson.

The hearing at Newry Crown Court was set for 5 May, providing "three weeks before the trial" to review the case.

A trial date had previously been fixed for 26 May.

Charges and Allegations

The couple deny a total of 23 charges, which are alleged to have occurred between 1985 and 2008.

Sir Jeffrey, aged 63, faces 18 offences, including one count of rape.

Lady Donaldson, 59, is charged with five counts related to aiding and abetting.

Procedural Details

The pair were arrested and charged in March 2024 but were not required to attend the hearing held today.

The judge also stated that they will not be required to attend the review scheduled for 5 May.
