Police Search for Man After 12-Year-Old Attacked Near Train Crossing

Assault Incident Near Heatherbell Crossing

A 12-year-old boy was seriously assaulted by a man on a dirt track near a rail crossing in North Lanarkshire.

Police reported that the suspect, estimated to be between 40 and 50 years old, targeted the boy close to the Heatherbell crossing, by Gartgill Road in Coatbridge, at approximately 15:30 on Friday.

Suspect Description and Investigation

The man is described as approximately 5ft 7in tall with a stocky build. He was wearing a black puffer jacket and black trousers at the time of the incident.

The boy was transported to hospital for treatment but was later released.

Authorities are particularly interested in speaking with a woman who was walking a dog wearing a high visibility harness in the vicinity shortly before the assault occurred.

Police Appeal

"Inquiries are ongoing and we are appealing to anyone who witnessed the assault to contact us."

Det Con Lynne Thomson made the statement as part of the ongoing investigation.
