County Tyrone Crash Victim Named
Emmet Potter has been identified by police as the man who died following a single-vehicle collision in County Tyrone. The incident occurred at approximately 23:00 BST on Saturday on the Derrycourtney Road in Caledon. Authorities have arrested a person in connection with the crash, who remains in custody.
Potter was among five individuals who lost their lives on Northern Ireland roads over the weekend. According to Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) statistics, there have been 29 road fatalities up to 26 April this year, which is more than double the 14 fatalities recorded during the same period in 2025.
Emergency services including police, ambulance, and fire crews attended the Caledon crash, where Potter was pronounced dead at the scene.
Glenavy Road Crash
On Saturday, two people died in a collision involving a motorcycle and a car at Upper Ballinderry in County Antrim. Police received a report shortly before 18:00 BST of the collision on Glenavy Road. Emergency services responded, but both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene.
"Another person was taken to hospital for treatment to their injuries," Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) Detective Inspector Dave Stewart stated.
Clanabogan Road Crash
On Sunday, Patrick Deery, aged 61, died at the scene of a single-vehicle road traffic collision involving a motorcycle on the Clanabogan Road in Omagh. The incident occurred before 11:00 BST.
Nutts Corner Crash
A 16-year-old passenger from County Tipperary died following a two-vehicle collision on the Belfast Road near Nutts Corner before 08:00 BST on Sunday. The collision involved a black Volkswagen Golf and a silver Volkswagen Passat.
The driver of the Golf has been arrested on suspicion of multiple motoring offences. The male teenager, who was a passenger in the Passat, died at the scene. The Passat’s driver sustained minor injuries, while two other passengers, including a 10-year-old child, were hospitalized. Police have reported that the child’s condition is critical.
PSNI has appealed for anyone with information or footage related to any of these road collisions to come forward.
