Police Extended Detention of Four Men in Iran-Related Spy Probe

Extended Detention Granted for Iran-Related Spy Suspects

Detectives have been granted an extension until 13 March to continue questioning four men detained in connection with a counter-terrorism investigation involving Iran.

The individuals, comprising one Iranian national and three dual British-Iranian nationals, were arrested on Friday on suspicion of aiding a foreign intelligence service.

The Metropolitan Police have indicated that the investigation concerns alleged surveillance activities targeting locations and individuals associated with London's Jewish community.

On Saturday, the police confirmed that they had

"secured warrants of further detention"
for the four men under the National Security Act.

The suspects include a 40-year-old and a 55-year-old apprehended in Barnet, a 52-year-old arrested in Watford, and a 22-year-old detained in Harrow.

Additional Arrests and Bail

Alongside these four, six other men have been released on bail pending further inquiries, according to the Metropolitan Police.

These six individuals, aged between 20 and 49, were arrested at the same location in Harrow on suspicion of assisting an offender. Among them, one was additionally arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer.
