Police Scotland reported that the patient inside the ambulance later passed away in hospital due to a "medical matter." The incident also resulted in injuries to two ambulance workers and a student paramedic.

"The 49-year-old male driver of the car was arrested in connection with a road traffic offence and inquiries were ongoing."

Emergency Services Response

The Scottish Ambulance Service confirmed that one of its ambulances was en route to Glasgow Royal Infirmary when the collision took place.

Following the crash, the patient was transported to the hospital by a different ambulance.

Two ambulance staff members were taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, while the student paramedic was admitted to Glasgow Royal Infirmary.
