New Community Grocery Store Opens in Crewe

A new community grocery store providing discounted food items has recently opened in Crewe. The initiative is a partnership between The Message Trust and Hope Church and operates from the church premises on weekdays between 10:00 and 14:00 GMT.

Membership and Pricing Structure

To access the store, individuals must pay an annual membership fee of £1. Once a member, customers can spend £5 to select 12 items or spend £7.50 to choose 18 items from the store's offerings.

Purpose and Impact

Andy Hawthorne, global chief executive and founder of The Message Trust, highlighted the challenges posed by rising prices.

"Escalating prices are having a massive impact on everyone's lives, but for many it's made life so difficult that they are having to choose between heating or eating,"
