Martin Clunes Opens Heavy Horses Section at Royal Bath and West Show
Actor Martin Clunes, known for his roles in Doc Martin and the 2026 adaptation of Wuthering Heights, described spending time with heavy horses as "a bit of soul food" during his visit to the Royal Bath and West Show.
The agricultural event, held from 28 to 30 May in Shepton Mallet, Somerset, gathers industry professionals to discuss current farming issues and showcase livestock.
Clunes officially inaugurated the heavy horses section at the showground on Thursday.
"People love to see heavy horses and hear about them and ask questions about them. They get what I get from being with them, a bit of soul food," he said.

Best known for portraying Martin Ellingham in the comedy-drama Doc Martin, as well as appearing in the TV sitcom Men Behaving Badly, Clunes recently played Mr Earnshaw in the 2026 adaptation of Wuthering Heights.
He emphasized the close-knit nature of the heavy horse community.
"This community of heavy horse people, there aren't many of us, but we all support each other," he said.
Residing on the Somerset and Dorset border, Clunes expressed his appreciation for rural life and his connection to nature.
"I love the countryside and being in tune with nature," he said.
