Police Appeal for Information After Suspected Hit-and-Run

A 28-year-old man remains in critical condition in hospital following a suspected hit-and-run incident in Dromore last night.

The pedestrian was struck by a black Toyota Yaris in the Market Square area of the County Down town, after which the vehicle fled the scene.

Shortly after the incident, a 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of multiple offences, including dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm and driving with excess alcohol. The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) confirmed that he remains in custody.

Incident Details and Police Response

Inspector Woods stated that police were alerted to the incident at approximately 01:50 BST. Officers attended the scene alongside colleagues from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service.

"A 28 year-old man was subsequently taken to hospital, where he remains in a critical condition."

Inspector Woods added an appeal for witnesses and anyone with relevant footage to come forward.

"We're appealing to anyone who witnessed what happened or anyone who may have mobile or dash-cam footage of what happened that we could review to make contact with police,"

he said.
