Accused Denies Sexual Contact and Trafficking Allegations
Jaswinder Singh, 61, from River Street, Rhyl, has denied any sexual contact with two teenage girls and refuted claims of trafficking a 15-year-old girl to London. Singh was arrested following concerns raised by an adult about the girl, referred to as Child B, during her time in the city.
Singh stated that he took Child B with him on a weekend trip to London to look after his dog while visiting family and a friend. He mentioned that Child B intended to meet one of her friends during the trip.
Regarding accommodation, Singh explained there was no fixed plan for Child B's stay. She was expected either to meet a friend or stay alone in a flat owned by one of his friends.
He is among five individuals denying allegations related to the sexual exploitation of girls in Rhyl.
Details of the London Trip and Subsequent Events
During the trial at Caernarfon Crown Court, it was revealed that in London, Singh and Child B met her friend and went to a friend's house. From there, Child B and her friend left the property while Singh remained behind.
Singh recounted that Child B's phone was left at the property. When the phone rang, Child B's friend informed Singh that Child B was 15 years old and accused Singh and his associates of having sexual relations with Child B.
"She told me that Child B was 15 years old," Singh said.
"The friend accused Singh and his friends of 'having sex with Child B and things like that'."
When questioned by defence counsel Duncan Bould about his reaction to the call, Singh responded:
"I was 'angry'."
Singh also stated that he made calls and sent texts to individuals whom Child B's friend had accused of engaging in sexual activities with Child B.
"I was trying to get the information from them. What's been going on?" he said.
Singh stayed overnight with his friend and said that the following morning he spoke to another girl, referred to as Child C, who rang Child B's phone.
The court heard that Child B had introduced Singh to Child C.
"She told me that Child B was back in Wales. She said the police brought her back," Singh said.
He added that there was no dispute with Child C during the call and he believed the police had simply returned Child B home.
"I asked if she was safe," Singh said. He was arrested later that same day in London.
Denials of Sexual Contact and Other Charges
When asked if he had any sexual contact with Child B, Singh replied:
"No."
He also denied any sexual contact with Child C.
"No," he answered to the same question about Child C.
Singh denies involvement in a conspiracy to traffic the two girls and supplying them with cannabis.
