Man Charged Following Major Drug Seizure in County Down

A 53-year-old man has been formally charged after authorities seized Class A drugs valued at approximately £1.4 million in County Down.

The discovery was made by detectives conducting a house search on Mourne Drive in Warrenpoint on Thursday morning.

During the operation, a substantial quantity of suspected cocaine was confiscated, along with a sum of cash and various electronic devices.

The individual faces charges including possession of Class A controlled drugs with intent to supply and being concerned in the supply of a Class A controlled drug.

Police Statement on the Seizure

A police spokesperson commented on the incident, stating:

"This significant seizure is the result of ongoing investigations relating to the supply of controlled drugs in the County Down area.
We are actively committed to removing dangerous drugs from our streets while disrupting and arresting those involved in the drugs trade.
The police said support from the public is 'crucial' in these investigations."
