Fatal Crash in East Peckham
A truck driver has been arrested following a collision that resulted in the deaths of a young girl and a man in his 30s who were travelling in a pony and trap.
Kent Police reported that the incident occurred in East Peckham, near Tonbridge, shortly before 18:30 BST on 1 April.
The police stated that a white DAF tipper truck was heading southbound on the A228 Boyle Way, between the Bandridges Road and Hale Street junctions, when it collided with the pony and trap moving in the same direction.
A young girl and a woman who were in the trap were transported to hospital. The child was later confirmed deceased, while the man in his 30s died at the scene.
The woman remains in critical condition, according to officers.
The pony also died at the scene of the collision.
The driver of the tipper truck, a 29-year-old man from Kent, was arrested in connection with the incident and taken into custody.

Ongoing Investigation and Appeal for Witnesses
Kent Police have launched an investigation into the crash and have appealed for any witnesses or individuals who saw the truck or the pony and trap prior to the collision to come forward.
"An investigation was under way and we are appealing for witnesses or anyone who saw the truck or pony and trap before the crash to get in contact," the force said.
