M1 Closure Following Collision

The M1 motorway in Derbyshire will remain closed for "some time" after a crash occurred on Sunday morning.

Derbyshire Police reported that they were alerted to a two-vehicle collision shortly after 07:00 GMT. Both directions of the carriageway between junctions 29 and 30 were initially closed as a result.

A spokesperson for Derbyshire Police stated:

"The southbound side had since reopened, but the northbound carriageway would 'remain closed for some time'."

Emergency services, including an air ambulance and National Highways officers, attended the scene to provide assistance.

Authorities have advised drivers to seek alternative routes while the closure remains in effect.
