Gorse Fire Erupts Near Rosehearty, Residents Advised to Close Windows

A significant gorse fire has ignited in Aberdeenshire, leading to advisories for local residents to keep their windows closed due to the presence of substantial smoke. The incident occurred on open land behind the B9031 near Rosehearty at approximately 17:20.

Emergency response included the deployment of four fire engines and a specialist unit to the scene, which is situated close to residential properties. Social media footage captured vivid images of orange flames spreading across the grassy terrain, accompanied by thick plumes of black smoke rising into the atmosphere.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) issued guidance for residents in the vicinity to keep windows and doors shut to minimize smoke inhalation and advised the public to avoid the area for safety reasons.

"Crews are currently at the scene of a fire in the open near residential properties in Cairnhill Road, Rosehearty in Fraserburgh.

Four fire appliances are currently at the incident."
