Protest Following Stabbing Incident

Hundreds of people participated in a protest in Edinburgh after an alleged stabbing attack that resulted in two individuals being hospitalized.

Protesters assembled outside the Cobbinshaw House tower block located in the Calders area of the city, where the incident occurred on Monday.

Police Intervention During Counter-Protest

Police officers intervened when protesters moved to confront a counter-protest group organized by trade unionists and anti-racism campaigners.

Details of the Incident and Charges

Mustafa Kokoneh, 23, has appeared in court in connection with the incident on Monday. He faces multiple charges including threatening to kill a woman, brandishing a knife, chasing her, and attacking her from behind while she was attempting to hide.

The charges further allege that Kokoneh struck the woman, who was a shop customer, on the head with a glass bottle and attempted to murder her.

Additionally, he is accused of attempting to murder a man by repeatedly striking him on the body with a knife, causing severe injury and permanent impairment.

Court Proceedings

Kokoneh appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court in a private hearing on Wednesday. During this appearance, he made no plea and was remanded in custody.

He is scheduled to appear in court again next week.
