Glyn Wise Advocates Social Media for Evangelism
The Reverend Glyn Wise has expressed his belief that clergy should use social media platforms to disseminate their message and cultivate the Christian faith.
Glyn Wise, 37, who first gained public attention on the television series Big Brother, was among those ordained as priests by the Church in Wales at St Asaph Cathedral on Saturday, 27 June.
"I am still praying to God to use me as a catalyst to try to share the good news and to spread it as far as I can," he said.
"That is why I use social media, because I think if the disciples had social media, they would be using it now as they went out there."
He described his ordination as an "incredible experience" and revealed he had "waited over four years for it."
"I feel that being ordained is an honour and that the Holy Spirit is with me," he added.
In recent years, Glyn has been training for the priesthood at St Padarn's Institute in Cardiff, with placements in London, St Silin's Church in Wrexham, and Llangollen.
"I went to college to do God's work and to go out there as one of His disciples, and in a way, to go out and share that good news.
"But now I have been made a priest," he said, "and that is an honour."
He explained that walking into St Asaph Cathedral after "all those years of studying the Bible, knowing that William Morgan himself had been a bishop there," was a "special experience – I felt the Holy Spirit with me."
Although Glyn enjoyed being ordained, he did not seek the attention.
"The focus is rightly on Jesus, not on me."
Glyn first came to prominence on the Big Brother programme in 2006.

First Communion and Leading the Service
He enjoyed preparing for and taking his first communion in front of his parents at Llangernyw church, where many were in the congregation.
"I had practised and practised, and when I saw the bread and wine in front of me, I thought, 'This is your time Glyn, don't do anything wrong, follow the order, bless the bread first, bless the wine second and then share it as one Christian family.'"
Leading the communion service for the first time as a priest was important to him and an experience he will remember for a long time.
"Serving the sacrament is the focal point of the service and being able to feel like we are going back to the command from years ago, from the time of the Last Supper."
He added that when taking the bread and wine, he thought about all the kings and queens who had taken communion.
Pastoral Work and Personal Conviction
Glyn also plans to visit "people who are on their deathbeds," to "give them communion because they know they are taking something that transforms them inside," he explained.
"I have reached a point in life where I know what I want to do, and that is what is important."
"There are some people who are not Christians, some who do not believe, and it is difficult to explain to them, but for me, I know that what I am doing is right.
"I remember the time I decided I really wanted to give my life to Christ and I felt it in my steps in a way, when you walk, some kind of light comes through you reassuring yourself that you have done the right thing in life."
He also said that this is what brings happiness in life – "that God is with you on every occasion and you are never on your own."

Looking Forward to New Challenges
The Reverend Glyn Wise will continue to serve in the areas of Old Colwyn, Llansannan, Llangernyw, and Llanfair Talhaearn.
"The Holy Spirit drives me, I pray all the time to God to use me in the best possible way.
"I am sure sometimes God asks me to do things and I do different things, but I try to make sure that Christ is the centre of everything I do and that is important to me."
There will be an opportunity to hear the Reverend Glyn Wise's service on Radio Cymru on Sunday at 12:00 and then on .
