Former Children's DJ Sentenced for Sexual Exploitation
Logan Donald has been sentenced to three years in prison after being convicted of sexually exploiting a 14-year-old girl online. The 21-year-old, who previously worked as a DJ at children's discos throughout central Scotland, repeatedly contacted the girl, requesting intimate images and making sexual demands.
During the trial at the High Court in Edinburgh, it was revealed that Donald had accumulated a significant collection of child abuse material. A search of his residence uncovered over 300 videos depicting child abuse, including 179 classified as the most serious category, along with 450 images of child abuse.
Donald admitted to causing the girl to engage in sexual activity and to downloading indecent images of children. He had a prior record for sexual offences and, in 2023, pleaded guilty to targeting three 13-year-old girls via social media. He coerced these victims into sending explicit images by threatening to take his own life if they refused.
Legal Proceedings and Sentencing
At sentencing, Donald's lawyer, Lisa Gillespie KC, commented on his current situation:
"He is now experiencing time in custody, which it is to be hoped might prove a salutary lesson to him."
Judge Thomas Welsh KC informed Donald that upon release, he would be subject to supervision for an additional four years. During this period, Donald will be on licence and may be returned to custody if he violates any terms. The judge also emphasized the legal requirement for Donald to be placed on the sex offenders register indefinitely.
"The law requires that you are placed on the sex offenders register indefinitely."
