Council and Resident Reactions

Lisa Boyle, a councillor representing the Bablake ward, expressed her dismay at the situation.

"I think it's absolutely appalling,"
she said.

The council extended gratitude to the residents who reported the issue, enabling a swift response.

"We'd like to say thank you to the residents who made us aware of this issue so we could act quickly.
A road closure remains in place and we ask people to avoid the area if possible."

she said.

Ongoing Fly-tipping Problems

Boyle highlighted that fly-tipping has been a persistent problem in the area, citing various dumped items including mattresses, asbestos, furniture, and couches.

"There's been mattresses, asbestos, furniture, couches,"
she stated.

She advocated for stronger measures such as CCTV surveillance or continuous monitoring to address the issue.

"It needs stronger measures within that area - either CCTV or it being monitored all the time."

Call for Public Assistance

The council urged anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward and contact the authorities.
