Fire Service Responds to Recycling Centre Fire

Firefighters are currently addressing a fire at a waste recycling centre located outside Carryduff.

The Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service received the call regarding the incident on Hillsborough Road, where the fire generated significant black smoke visible from miles away.

In an official statement, the fire service advised residents in the vicinity to keep their windows and doors closed and requested that the public avoid the area for safety reasons.

"We would like to thank the public for their patience whilst we deal with this incident," a spokesperson said.

Democratic Unionist Party councillor Brian Higginson reported that up to eight fire engines were present at the scene. He also urged caution for those near the fire site in County Down.

Kate Nicholl, Alliance Party MLA for the area, expressed concern about the fire and extended her thoughts to the firefighters managing the situation.
