Farage Advocates for Release of Imprisoned Figures via Cameo Videos
Nigel Farage, leader of Reform UK, made paid remarks supporting the release of rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs and a former Honduran president convicted of drug trafficking through personalised videos on the platform Cameo.
Farage’s use of Cameo has previously attracted attention following a investigation that revealed he recorded videos endorsing a rioter, repeating extremist slogans, and supporting a neo-Nazi event.
A spokesperson for Farage stated that his Cameo videos should
“not be treated as political statements or campaign activity”.
Details of Cameo Videos Recorded in Early 2025
The newly uncovered videos were recorded in early 2025, after Farage was elected as a Member of Parliament. Cameo users submit a brief prompt and pay a fee to receive a personalised video from a celebrity or public figure.
In January 2025, a user paid Farage £84 to create a 26th birthday message for a woman, requesting that he
“commend her for her efforts to free Juan Orlando Hernández from prison”.
Juan Orlando Hernández served as president of Honduras from 2014 to 2022. Shortly after leaving office, he was arrested and extradited to the United States. In June 2024, Hernández was convicted of drug trafficking and fined $8 million. Prosecutors stated he collaborated with drug traffickers and accepted millions in bribes.
Despite Hernández’s conviction, Farage’s message praised the recipient’s campaign efforts:
“I’ve got to commend you for your efforts to free Juan Orlando Hernández from prison. You are working hard. You are a campaigner for justice and truth.”
Hernández was later pardoned by former US President Donald Trump, who claimed he was asked to release Hernández by
“many of the people of Honduras”and asserted the prosecution was a
“Biden setup”.
Farage’s Support for Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs
Donald Trump has not granted a pardon to Sean Combs (also known as Puff Daddy), despite stating the rapper requested clemency after being convicted on prostitution-related charges in July 2025 and sentenced to probation.
Months prior, when Farage was asked via Cameo to use a slogan supporting Combs’ release, the rapper was detained without bail at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center awaiting trial.
A user paid £82 for a birthday message for “Kieron,” who was turning 17 in March 2025, and requested Farage say
“Free Diddy, eat Shankly”.The user also asked Farage to include a hardline anti-immigration phrase,
“if in doubt kick ‘em out”.Farage responded:
“I’ve got to roast Newcastle and say Free Diddy, eat Shankly.”
He added: “And if in doubt, let’s control our borders.”
Farage’s Spokesperson Comments on Cameo Videos
Farage’s spokesperson commented on the volume and nature of his Cameo videos:
“Mr Farage has recorded many thousands of videos for genuine supporters to celebrate weddings, congratulate friends or send novelty messages. At that scale, the occasional mistake can occur.”
