Four Paddleboarders Rescued After Being Blown Offshore
Four paddleboarders, including an eight-year-old child, were rescued at sea after being carried offshore by strong winds. The group consisted of two teenagers, one adult, and the child, who were using two paddleboards at Llandanwg Beach, located south of Harlech in Gwynedd, on Thursday.
The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) reported that volunteers were alerted to the "rapidly evolving situation" at 16:15 BST following concerns raised by a family member on the shore.
During the rescue, one paddleboarder was found in the water and was "suffering severely from the effects of the cold," while the other three were holding onto one of the paddleboards some distance offshore.
All four individuals were successfully recovered, along with a member of the public who had entered the sea in an attempt to assist.
Both Holyhead Coastguards and the RNLI emphasized the incident as a reminder of how quickly sea conditions can change, especially when offshore winds are present.
"The situation highlighted how quickly conditions can change at sea, particularly with offshore winds."
