Fire at Former East London Synagogue Under Arson Investigation

The Metropolitan Police have confirmed that a fire at a building previously used as a synagogue in east London is being treated as an attempted arson attack.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday morning at the former East London Central Synagogue located in Whitechapel.

According to the Met, initial CCTV footage suggests the fire was deliberately set. The investigation is currently being conducted by the force's counter terrorism unit.

This suspected arson comes amid a series of attacks and attempted attacks targeting the Jewish community in recent weeks.
