Driver Hospitalized After Late-Night Crash on A75

A driver is in serious condition in hospital following a late-night collision on the A75 in Dumfries and Galloway.

The 53-year-old was injured when his grey BMW 1 Series collided with a stationary white MAN lorry near Annan on Sunday night.

Police Scotland reported that he was transported to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary after the incident, which occurred at approximately 23:10.

Fatal Crash Occurred Less Than 24 Hours Earlier

This incident took place less than 24 hours after a fatal crash on the A75 near Dumfries in the early hours of Sunday.

A 43-year-old pedestrian was struck by a silver Ford Fiesta between the Lockerbie Road and Edinburgh Road roundabouts at about 03:00. The pedestrian died at the scene.

Subsequently, the car involved collided with a lorry traveling in the opposite direction. The road remained closed for over 19 hours to allow for investigations and road repairs.

Details on the Later Crash and Police Appeal

Police confirmed that the HGV driver involved in the later crash near Annan did not require hospital treatment. The road was closed for approximately 12 hours following this collision.

PC Callum Kingstree said: "Inquiries to establish the full circumstances are ongoing and we would appeal to anyone who witnessed the crash to contact us.
We would also ask any drivers who were on the road around the time of crash with dash-cam footage to please contact us."
