Charge Dropped Against Woman in Acid Attack Case
A woman accused of involvement in a fatal acid attack has had the charge against her dismissed in court.
Danny Cahalane, 38, was attacked with sulphuric acid at his home on Lipson Road, Plymouth, on 21 February 2025 and died in hospital on 3 May. Seven men and two women are currently on trial at Winchester Crown Court.
Jenna Said, 39, of Plymouth, was on trial charged with being involved in an organised crime group, but the charge has been dropped. She was not facing any other charges.
Judge Ms Justice Heather Norton addressed the jury, stating:
"I have reached the conclusion that there is insufficient evidence upon which you could properly return a guilty verdict in respect of Miss Said."
Additionally, the jury was directed to return not guilty verdicts for all defendants charged with conspiracy to cause grievous bodily harm before the defence case opened on Monday, following the prosecution's decision that there was "insufficient evidence".
Details of the Trial and Charges
The defendants include Paris Wilson, 35, and Jude Hill, 43, both from Plymouth; Abdulrasheed Adedoja, 23; Israel Augustus, 26; Isanah Sungum, 22; Ramarnee Bakas, 23; and Brian Kalemba, 23, all from London. They face charges of murder and an alternative charge of manslaughter.
