Priest Sentenced for Sexual Assault
A Roman Catholic priest has been sentenced to 19 months in prison after being found guilty of sexually assaulting a man at his church residence.
Father Stephen Baillie, who served as the parish priest at St Joseph's Church in Clarkston, East Renfrewshire, committed the assault following a night out with the victim.
Baillie, with 36 years of experience as a priest, denied the charge but was convicted by a jury at Paisley Sheriff Court last month.
The Diocese of Paisley confirmed that Baillie has been removed from his position as parish priest. Additionally, he has been placed on the sex offenders register for a period of 10 years.
