Woman Dies After Dog Attack in Essex
A 19-year-old woman has died following a dog attack at a residence in Essex.
Essex Police responded to a call at Long Hide, located in the village of Leaden Roding near Dunmow, at 22:45 BST on Friday. Upon arrival, officers found the woman suffering from serious injuries.
Despite the best efforts of emergency services, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Essex Police.
A 37-year-old man from Dunmow was arrested on suspicion of being in charge of a dog dangerously out of control and causing injury resulting in death. He remains in police custody.
The dog involved in the incident was seized, and specialist officers secured the scene to ensure safety, the police confirmed.
Police Response and Investigation
Assistant Chief Constable Stuart Hooper addressed the incident, stating:
"I know this incident will be a shock to the local community.
My thoughts, and those of us all at Essex Police, are with the loved ones of the woman who died yesterday.
We will have officers in the area throughout today so please come and speak to them if you have any information or have any concerns.
Experienced detectives are leading the investigation to understand exactly what has happened."
Essex Police have appealed to the public for any information, including CCTV, dashcam, or other footage related to the incident. They have asked that anyone with relevant information contact them quoting incident number 1419 of 10 April.
