Historic Albert Hall Auction Mart Listed for Sale
The Albert Hall, a 154-year-old auction mart building located on Port Street in Annan, is being offered for sale with a guide price of £150,000. The property is situated at the opposite end of the street from a significant multi-million pound harbour regeneration project currently underway in the town.

Location and Historical Context
Port Street features several Georgian houses, and the Albert Hall itself was constructed in 1872 by auctioneer James McLean. The area surrounding the building was historically active with shipbuilding, commerce, and fishing activities, but experienced decline during the latter half of the 20th century.
Regeneration Efforts in Annan
A £15.6 million redevelopment project focused on the harbour is in the initial stages, with work expected to span approximately two years. The Annan Harbour Action Group has expressed willingness to collaborate with the future owner of the Albert Hall to support the building's potential redevelopment.
Current Status and Redevelopment Potential
The Albert Hall has remained vacant for many years. There were previous aspirations to convert the building into residential flats, and planning permission for such a conversion was granted around 20 years ago. The selling agent, Shepherd, has indicated that redevelopment grants may be available to any purchaser of this category B-listed property.
The property will require substantial investment to be restored and brought back into use.

Community Engagement
The Annan Harbour Action Group said it would be happy to work with whoever the new owner of the property might be.
